For Sale: Allard K2 3022

This K2 has been in the same small town for the past 50+ years with just two owners. The 40,000 miles are original and its original Cadillac V-8 is faster than hell.  This car features the original steel wheels and bumpers (recently re-plated). The undercarriage has never been touched, still exhibiting the original factory leather straps on the suspension and the wooden rocker boards and floors. A new exhaust system and starter motor were installed this past summer. Mechanically it is as solid as a rock.

RM London Auction Preview - J2 #2089

On October 29, RM will auction Allard J2 #2089 at their London event at the Battersea Evolution in London. Little is known of this cars early history when it was first delivered new to Cuba on July 31, 1951. However, the car’s ownership history picks up in the early 80’s when the car was registered in Florida. Since then the car has changed hands two more times. The car is currently equipped with a Cadillac 427 in3 engine (rated at 375 hp and 525 ft*lbs of torque) and an automatic transmission. If the new owner prefers a more traditional power plant, the car also comes with a Cadillac 331 and T10 4-speed transmission. Allard on Ebay - K2 1842

Thanks to Peter for pointing out this K2 that just popped up on Ebay. Not much is known about 1842 except that it was delivered to R/P Motors on January 16, 1951. It was originally Green with Red interior and fitted with a Cadillac motor upon delivery.

Please note this is NOT the K2 that was customized by George Barris and painted by Von Dutch.

Allard JLY 162 (Chassis# L-390) was born in London on February 13, 1948 and delivered unfinished from the factory to Allard agent, Dagenham Motors. The new owner, Mr. Bentley had the car painted black. Early Allards were often shipped unfinished in and effort to bypass the tax man while also allowing the new owner to add their personal touches. L-390 started life as a RHD 4-seat tourer with a 2622cc Pilot Ford Flathead (21 stud) engine.

After a few years of hill climb and trials racing (and an accident in 1955), the car was redone as a 2-seat competition car by a London panel beater named Watson. Allards were modified quite often in an effort to harness the brute torque of the V8; every ounce of extra bodywork was removed from L-390.

SOLD - Allard J2-1698

Details: Delivered January 26, 1951, Chassis # J2 1698, Engine #  8M931, Red with red interior, Shipped to Gardiner’s Motor Service, Sydney. Factory records show this car was shipped with the above-mentioned engine number (most exported Allards were shipped without an engine).

Sold immediately to Jack Murray.

This car was raced with a Cadillac motor which, it is understood, was installed by Murray in Sydney. The Cadillac motor was subsequently given the number N57110P.

This car’s first Bathurst race was the October 1951 meeting (not the ’51 Easter meeting as has been reported elsewhere). Raced by Murray, who tended to confine his racing to the northern states, through to 1955, including to fourth place in the 1952 Australian Grand Prix held at Bathurst, and in the 1954 Australian Grand Prix at Southport Qld, where it did not finish.

RM Monterey Auction Preview - K2 1804

This August, RM will auction two Allards, the second of which is this K2 Roadster, chassis #1804. This K2 was delivered to an LA dealer (likely Noel Kirk or Moss Moss Motors) on December 1, 1950. Originally painted blue and fitted with Cadillac power, this K2 features Allards' De Dion rear suspension which was a rare option for K2's. The car now features Hallibrand disk wheels, Brooklands windscreens and looks very sporting. The car was featured in the June 2010 issue of "Auto Trader Classic Cars & Parts" magazine. This car is register as lot #142 and will be sold on Saturday evening. The estimate for this car is $100-120,000. You can view more photos of this car at the RM's web site.

RM Monterey Auction Preview - M 834

 

This August, RM will auction two Allards, the first car is the M Drophead Coupe (DHC), chassis #834. At first glance, the car looks to be a nicely restored M type, but our records indicate that this chassis had a busy race history. Chassis 834 was sold by the Scottish dealer Alexanders on January 27, 1949 and was registered as GSF 756. The car was raced from 1950 to the mid 60's in a wide variety of events ranging trials, hill climbs, and even track races at Snetterton (1965). This car is register as lot #123 and will be sold on Saturday evening. The estimate for this car is $60-80,000. You can view more photos of this car at the RM's web site.

For Sale - Allard M Project

This M drophead coupe is chassis 859, and was delivered to Bournemouth England on Feb. 23, 1949 and registered as DJT 876. The owner has the original build and inspections sheets for the car. It was originally grey with grey interior and a blue top. Little of the car’s ownership history is known prior to 1978 and the current owner had the car shipped to the US in 1998. The car is in original condition, is mostly complete, but in need of a complete restoration. The car is equipped with a stock 3.6 liter (221 cid) Ford flathead engine with a Ford 3-speed transmission with column shift linkage that reverses the shift pattern from normal. Allard For Sale - K3 3261

Powder blue K3, chassis #K3-3261 with a Cadillac engine and Hydramatic transmission. The car was originally delivered to Noel Kirk Motors on September 16, 1953 and sold to D. Sanderson of Las Cruces, NM. The car was then purchased by Gary Peacock in 1977 who commissioned a complete restoration in the late 80’s. Upon Gary’s passing in 2009, Bob Lytle purchased the car who started a minor refreshing of the car. Upon Bob’s passing, his friends (including Allard GT owner Bob Girvin) helped complete the project. Bonhams Auction Preview - Palm Beach 21D-5151 Red Ram

This unique Allard, Chassis 21D-5151 is the only Palm Beach originally fitted with the 4.0-litre Dodge 'Red Ram' V8 engine. It was sold new to Bernardo Wolfenson of Buenos Aires, Argentina on April 2, 1954, who apparently toured Europe with it prior to taking it to Argentine, before returning to the UK in the 1960s. The car comes with a copy of the original Allard order (ordered March 16, 1954) confirming its first owner and 'Home delivery' as it was despatched on the Dover-Boulogne ferry. This car was the prototype for what could have potentially been an exciting relationship between Allard and the Dodge motor company. Dodge was hoping to add a car to their lineup that could compete with the Chevrolet Corvette.

You're probably wondering why we're calling this a K1/2...visually it's a K1, but mechanically it's actually a K2. The car was originally ordered as a K2, but the US dealer, Forbes required an early delivery. To meet the short lead time, the K2 chassis was fitted with a leftover K1 body. RM Amelia Island Auction Preview - Allard K2-1808

On Saturday March 12, RM will auction off Allard K2-1808 as lot #188. This K2 is equipped with a Olds "Rocket" V8 featuring an Edmunds intake manifold and Mercury transmission. In this case, RM Auctions contacted us a few months back about J2X 3044. Allard For Sale - K3 6017

This 1953 Allard K3 was previously restored in the late 1970’s and has been stored inside for the past 25 years. Current owner purchased the carf in 2003 and has driven it on a limited basis. This BRG K3 is complete, but features a non-standard dash and steering wheel and some minor body damage on the left rear fender. The car features a Cadillac 331 engine with dual carbs, Offy valve covers, 4-speed Muncie transmission, folding top and 15” wire wheels. New Allard Dragster Print

The restoration of Europe’s first dragster, Sydney Allard’s 1961 Allard Chrysler owned by the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu, has certainly attracted support from the artistic fraternity. First it was Norwegian artist Tommy Vågen who was closely followed by UK based Paul Whitehouse. Both created paintings that were used to produce a limited number of prints - each signed by Nick Mason of Pink Floyd and Alan Allard. Canadian guitarist Ked Dieter and Booth-Arons partner Sam Eidy penned some lyrics that Ked recorded in his studio under the title Ally Blue. This is available as a download or on an audio CD. And we mustn’t forget Phil Brown who is responsible for all the Allard Chrysler Action Group (ACAG) identity on shirts and leaflets. Others are currently at work creating aspects required for fund raising and promotional material.

RM Auction Preview - Bob Lytle's J2X #3162

On August 13, RM Auctions will sell Allard J2X #3162 (Lot 230) . To most, this is just another J2X; to me however, this is one of the most important Allards ever made. Ever since I was a kid, my dad would take me to the Monterey Historics; then he bought a basket case Allard K3. From that point on, my dad developed a friendship with All Knowing Allard Nut, Bob Lytle; and I fell in love with his black #65 J2X. For many years I dreamt that Bob would call me up to tell me he couldn’t race at Monterey that year and would ask if I wanted to race his car. Sadly that call never came, and unfortunately my dad and I lost a great friend to cancer this past December.

This particular Allard is a hybrid. The original car was a P1 saloon, 4-seater (Chassis P 2240). The chassis was altered to the same dimensions as the J2. A small block Chevy 283ci, 4700cc was fitted, with a Mark 10 Jaguar independent back end which has a limited slip differential. It has GM inboard disc brakes. Aluminum body.
